Toothy Critters

Ryan and Jake made it out to test the waters for tiger muskies on the fly.  Ryan has been experimenting with some new patterns and tied up his very own "Pubi-Parrot" using some yack hair.  Their day was full of balls out charges and follows only to have the muskie refuse the offering when it was said and done.  But they were able to boat two fish.  Jake had another one hit hard and hook up for a second but threw the hook.  These truly are amazing fish!

Another sweet taste of ice off

Blake and Mike made it out for a trip to a local stillwater that has recently opened at the edges.  Many bays had shorelines that were fishable, but there was a lot of ice still.  By lunch ice had peeled back probably 50 yards.  Some nice fish were the result.

Desert Gold....or Rainbows

Took a jaunt out into the desert, we didn't find the lost Rhodes Mines, but we did find a lake that had some hefty rainbows that looked like they wanted to play.  The cold front and that strong north wind that wouldn't stop blowing took its toll on our bodies and the fishing was a little slower because of it as well.  But we still caught plenty of fish to keep our attention and they were all of the football variety.  Had a good group and it was a good time becoming reacquainted with this desert gem.  This will be a very picture heavy post, but it's about the fishing anyway, and as the old saying goes....a picture says a thousand words!

What a great time with a great bunch of guys.  It's not going to be long before we have to return to a place like this.  

More Soft Water

Two weeks passed and a lot of ice has melted around the state.  Tons of opportunities to chase trout on stillwaters now even if a couple of the well known places still have ice on them.  Had to hit up a place that treated us very nicely through the ice to give the soft water a try.  Didn't get anything big this trip but caught plenty of fish to keep us interested.  The big fish should be cruising the feeding lanes soon enough.  It was a good time out and is only a taste of what is to come this year.

Soft Water

Spring has started to thaw out some of the lakes around the state.  Most of the regular spots still had the hard deck in full force so we went off the beaten path a bit to hit an open stillwater for the first time this year.  Didn't get anything huge today, but for my money there isn't anything like the anticipation stripping your line in anticipation of a huge hit from an aggressive predator.  This time, that predator was a tiger trout.

Steelhead Trip Part 2

We took another trip to chase red striped chrome to the north.  The conditions were tough and we struggled to get into the fish.  But we were able to manage to pick a few off.

None of us had ever fished for steelhead before, so we headed north to give it a go.  It turned out alright.  These are just a few pictures of the rewards of the trip.  Many more to come soon.

We caught a bunch, with the biggest being a 40 inch beast nailed by Jerry.  His first steelhead he ever hooked into!
